Herndon residents and members of Herndon Dogs, Inc. took the time to spoil their K-9 companions last weekend during the group's annual Doggie Swim at Chandon Courts.
Dogs were able to swim in the pool — within reach of their owners — during the four-hour event.
Dogs of all sizes and ages enjoyed the water and the chance to test out and show off their swimming skills. Dogs were urged to use an exit and entrance ramp into the pool, causing them to line up, much like humans using the stairs to get into the water. But, like humans, those that didn't want to wait either dove or belly-flopped into the water. Although the event was catered to the dogs, food and drink were provided in the baby pool area for owners who worked up an appetite chasing their pets.
