Sandburg Part of National Anthem Project

Carl Sandburg Middle School participated in The National Anthem Project this week. This was a national campaign geared to get America singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” on the 191st anniversary of the bombardment of Fort McHenry, which is when Francis Scott Key wrote the famous lyrics to the Star-Spangled Banner. It was also meant to spotlight the role music education plays in giving Americans a patriotic voice.

This campaign is supported by the First Lady, who is serving as Honorary Chairperson, the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, The History Channel, Girl Scouts USA, the Walt Disney Company and the American Legion.

All members of the seventh and eighth grade chorus and band sections participated and were led by Chorus Director, Meredith Green, and assisted by Band Teachers Charlie Burts and Joe LaBrie.
