Grand Jury Indicts Two Local Residents

Basim Jami is accused of raping a 44-year-old woman, July 12, west of Shirley Gate Road in Fairfax. Fairfax County police say the victim was able to describe her alleged attacker and tell police his license-plate number.

The woman reportedly told police she was in the parking lot of the Fairfax Circle Office Park when an unknown man drove up and "asked if anyone knew where 'Gloria' was." So she got into his vehicle to help him find Gloria. Then, she said, the man allegedly turned off the main road, drove into a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.

According to police, Jami was arrested after reportedly returning twice to the parking lot where the woman had been picked up. Police charged him with rape and abduction with intent to defile. He is scheduled for a jury trial, Nov. 2, in Circuit Court.

<bt>Following an investigation into allegations of prescription fraud, on March 1, police executed a search warrant at Marie Mulholland's home and seized a combination of full and empty pill bottles. That same day, they charged her with 10 counts of manufacturing false prescriptions.

Police say that Mulholland was allegedly refilling prescriptions a doctor had given her for pain, at several pharmacies, and receiving more narcotics than her physician intended her to have.

In her case, her attorney has already reached a plea agreement with the prosecution. Mulholland is slated to enter her pleas, Oct. 18, in Circuit Court.
