The staff at Nova Medical Group is offering nutrition education sessions Monday nights, at the Ashburn office. Each session is an hour long, presented by a registered dietitian, Jennifer Stokols, in a small group setting.

The session schedule is: Aug. 14, Portion Distortion; Aug. 21, How to Read a Food Label; Aug. 28, Five-A-Day! Sept. 11, Fad Diets DonÕt Work! and Sept. 18, Meal Planning.

The Health Department will be providing the new vaccine, Boostrix, now required for rising sixth-graders, along with other required immunizations to students in kindergarten-12th grade, from 9 a.m.-noon, every Saturday in August, at the Shenandoah Building clinic, 102 Heritage Way, N.E., Leesburg. Students must bring a current immunization record and be accompanied by a parent or adult 18 years or older. The Loudoun County CHADD (Children and Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder) parents support group will meet the second Tuesday of every month, from 7:15-8:30 p.m. SuccessLab Learning Centers is hosting the meetings and providing refreshments. SuccessLab is located at 20660 Ashburn Road in Old Town Ashburn near the fire station.

The purpose of the support group is to provide a place where parents can come to be heard, be understood and help each other with their struggles and also learn about the amazing qualities children with ADHD possess. The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross is seeking blood donations, especially types O and B blood. Donors must be generally in good health; be at least 17 years old; weigh no less than 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo within the past year; and have not donated whole blood within the past 56 days.
