The Classroom of Discovery has openings in both its two and three day per week morning preschool classes for the 06-07 school year. The classes are for children ages 2-1/2 to 5 and meet from 9 a.m.-noon. The not-for-profit Sterling preschool was recently accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and emphasizes creativity and a child-directed approach to learning. The public is invited to attend a presentation and question and answer for Discovery Park, Saturday, Aug. 19, at Sully Elementary School, 300 Circle Drive, Sterling, 7 p.m. The presentation will feature Michael Cohen, a playground designer and builder from the world-renowned firm of Leather's & Associates in Ithaca, N.Y. In conjunction with the Sterling Community Center, Sully Elementary School's Discovery Park will be sponsoring a Family Movie Night, Saturday, Aug. 26, featuring "Robots."

The event will start at 7 p.m., in the back of the Sterling Community Center. Includes food available for sale and entertainment prior to the movie, which begins at 9 p.m. Free admission. The proceeds from this event will go toward supporting Discovery Park, the new science playground to be built in the fall at Sully Elementary School.

All members of the Dominion High School community Ñ past, present and future Ñ are invited to attend Taste of Titan Territory 4, a community potluck picnic and pep rally to be held Saturday, Aug. 26.

Families, faculty and businesses within the Dominion School Cluster are welcome to join in the free activities and games for all ages. Includes the famous Titan "T" picture, dunk tank and opportunity to meet students involved in cheerleading, marching band and fall sports teams.

This rain-or-shine, from 4-7 p.m., at Dominion High School, 21236 Augusta Drive, Sterling. Bring a dish to share as well as lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on. Beverages will be provided. Those attending the pep rally will be eligible to win a family season athletic pass.

The Park View High School freshman and new student orientation will be held, Thursday, Aug. 31, at the school, 400 W. Laurel Ave., Sterling, at 7 p.m. Students and parents are invited to attend.

The YMCA Loudoun County will hold several after-school programs for the 2006-07 school year, with locations at the following elementary schools, Road Hill, Catoctin, Hillside, Sugarland, Cool Spring, Evergreen Mill, Sterling and Forest Grove.
