The Loudoun County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a debris fire that took place Sunday, Aug. 13, in Ashburn Village.
Around 6:52 p.m., the Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Department received a 911 call for an unknown fire on the 20500 block of Norwich Avenue, spokesperson Mary Maguire said. Personnel from Ashburn, Sterling, Moorefield and Leesburg responded to the call. When they arrived on the scene they discovered a small fire behind a construction site.
"A small debris pile was on fire," Maguire said. "It was about a 30 [foot] by 40 [foot] pile. The pile was located behind a house that was under construction."
Maguire said she was not certain what exactly the debris was, but in an e-mail, Michael McCullion, a Norwich Place resident, said it was a pile of trees and brush.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly, but the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
