The Old Angler's Inn has opened its informal beer garden for canal and river lovers and is actively pursuing relationships with companies, associations, and others who are involved with canal and river activities. The Old Angler's Inn has recently agreed to open its garden Wednesday and Thursday nights to accommodate Potomac Paddle Sports and other outdoor enthusiasts from 6-10 p.m. for libations and casual fare. All are welcome.

Safeway begins a five-week fundraising campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Through Labor Day, more than 1,500 Safeway and Safeway-owned stores across the United States have set a goal to raise $3.6 million through various fundraising efforts. Checkstands at Safeway stores in District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia will be equipped with point-of-sale materials for customers to contribute. The company will also post Aisles of Smiles shelf tags on participating national brands. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these products will go directly to MDA.
