Austin Shangraw, 17, a rising senior at Potomac Falls High School and member of Boy Scout Troop 956, was elevated to Eagle Scout in ceremonies held Aug. 19 at Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling. Del. David E. Poisson (D-32) presented him with a commendation from the Virginia House of Delegates, recognizing Shangraw on his achievement. For his Eagle Scout project, Shangraw built a brick structure around the sign board in front of Algonkian Elementary School and created a patio area with benches and flowers for parents to wait for their children to come out of school at the end of the day.
