City Offices Begin Move to Annex

The city’s data center, Cityscreen-12 studio began moving into the new City Hall building Dec. 1.

Fairfax City’s data center and cable television staff predicted their move into the City Hall annex would interrupt electronic services, including the city Web site, e-mail, telephone service and online payments, for as long as the weekend of Dec. 1. Rachel Roth, the cable TV manager, said the services were only down for a couple of hours since the move ran so smoothly. The city’s police department will begin moving into its new building, at 3730 Old Lee Highway, Friday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. Some police services will be temporarily out of use, including criminal history checks, records, accident reports and stolen property recovery. City Hall offices will continue moving into the annex Friday, Dec. 15.
