<cal2>Cultural Presentation Series. "African-American History and Culture in Loudoun County," at the Rust Library in Leesburg. This is the second of a series of cultural presentations. Part memoir and part history, the book demonstrates how rural African-Americans cultivated racial pride and civic activism that laid the groundwork for the civil rights movement. Sponsored by the Loudoun Human service NetworkÕs Diversity Focus Group. The public is invited and there is no charge. Participants will be awarded certificates for attendance for attending cultural diversity presentations.
Central African Music, Dance & Drum featuring Ingeli Rwanda. <cal2>Black History Program. The Loudoun County Virginia Chapter (LCVC) of Jack and Jill of America Inc. presents its annual Black History Program, at the Stone Bridge High School, 43100 Hay Road, Ashburn, at 3 p.m. Theme is "Honoring our Past and Shaping our Future." LCVC will honor Irene Walker-Bobich, a life-long local community grassroots motivator inspiring social change. Special guests will include a local step team, lyrist Rafeal Ross, minister of music, Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Herndon, and "High Praise" from Capital Community Church, Ashburn. Free. LCVC will also be collecting cleaning products as donations for LoudounÕs Transitional Housing Center shelter for homeless families.
