Special Election Set

A special election will be held in Loudoun County Tuesday, Jan. 31, to fill the vacancy in the Virginia State Senate from the 33rd Senatorial District.

Thursday, Jan. 26, is the last day that qualified applicants can submit an application to vote an absentee ballot by mail for this election. Saturday, Jan. 28, is the last day that qualified applicants may vote an absentee ballot in person for this election.

The Office of the Registrar at 26-C Fairfax St., S.E., Leesburg, will be open Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., for registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot for this election.

More information about the election, including a list of precincts in the 33rd Senatorial District and a link to polling places may be found on the Loudoun County government Web site at www.loudoun.gov/government/special06.htm.

Anyone not sure which election district or precinct he/she lives in, should check his/her voter registration card, call 703-777-0380 or go to the Virginia State Board of Elections Web site at www.sbe.virginia.gov/cms.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. for the election.
