The workshops are held on the first Tuesday of each month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Boulevard, Suite 4550, Vienna. Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with refreshments and networking. The Naomi Project is a free, confidential, interfaith program sponsored by the Virginia Council of Churches which needs volunteers who will be trained to serve as mentors to disadvantaged pregnant women and new mothers. Mentors provide positive reinforcement, help clients learn about good health during pregnancy and safe practices after birth, locate needed information, services and equipment, model sound parenting skills, and support their clients as they plan for healthy, stable futures.

Built in 1794, Sully was the home of Richard Bland Lee, Northern Virginia’s first congressman and uncle of Robert E. Lee. Without the work of approximately 30 slaves the fashionable lifestyle of the Lee family would not have been possible.

Vpstart Crow Productions, a professional theatre company, will open its 2006 season with William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, the tale of Caesar's assassination by the knives of conspirators led by Marcus Brutus and Caius Cassius, Feb. 24 - March 12 at The Cramer Center, located at 9008 Center St. in Old Town Manassas.
The production will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Directed by Bob Smith and assistant director Paul Rubenstein, the team that produced Vpstart Crow's critically-acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet last season, Shakespeare's historically based story of political intrigue, maneuvering and betrayal will not be set in its familiar setting of Ancient Rome, but rather in Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

Fairfax Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is recruiting community-minded citizens from diverse backgrounds to volunteer as advocates for children whose families have been cited for abuse and neglect by the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court. The role of a CASA is to investigate a child's situation and to advocate for what is in the best interest of the child in court.
