All Aboard the Gospel Express- Vacation Bible Study will be offered the week of July 31-Aug. 4, 9 a.m,-noon, for children ages 3-10. The Allegro Bell Choir from Trinity Lutheran Church in Roselle, Ill. will appear at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in McLean, on July 9 in the nave of the church at 7 p.m. This is a free concert and all are welcome. The Church of the Good Shepherd, a United Methodist church at 2351 Hunter Mill Road, Vienna, will welcome its new pastor, Dr. Stephen A. Proctor, and his wife, Debbie, with a reception following its 10 a.m. church service on July 9. That Sunday also marks the beginning of the church’s summer schedule, with Sunday school at 9 a.m., followed by a single worship service at 10 a.m. Proctor comes to Good Shepherd from the Manor Memorial United Methodist Church in New Market, Va., where he has served for four years. Christianity and World Religions: Wrestling With Questions People Ask will be the main topic of study for the next six weeks at Trinity United Methodist Church in McLean. This special series will focus on learning more about Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity. The public is invited to participate in all parts of this special church wide program which will include worship, sermons and small-group studies that feature videos, Bible study and discussion. This six-week study and accompanying Sunday sermon series began June 11 and continues through July 24. Sunday Informal services begin at 8:30 a.m. with Traditional services starting at 10:30 a.m. Childcare for infants and children up to three years old is provided during worship services and class studies.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church offers a full range of education, music, worship and outreach programs. Sunday worship is at 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Child care is available at all services. Fiesta! Bible School is being held July 24-28. Children age 4 through grade six will enjoy a week of songs, Bible stories, crafts, outreach projects and more. Early registration (before June 1) costs $20 per child. Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, Emmanuel Lutheran will hold L.I.F.T. (Living in Faith Together) and Laugh, consisting of a simple meal at 6:30 p.m., a praise worship service at 7 and a fun activity at 7:30.
