Misono Yokoyama of Vienna was one of 22 students selected by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for its internship program this summer as part of the Kennedy Center Institute for Arts Management. Yokoyama, daughter of Yuji and Michiko Yokoyama, graduated from James Madison High School where she received the Promising Young Writers' award. She currently attends Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, where she has received the George Preston Frazier Outstanding Senior award and dean's list honors. Yokoyama took a year off from her undergraduate studies to participate in Special Task Force, a national volunteer program that creates community service projects in inner cities to help deter children from drug and alcohol use. She plans on graduating in 2007 with degrees in graphic design and communications.

While at the Kennedy Center, Yokoyama is working in the electronic media department, which creates and maintains the Kennedy Center's Web sites, as well as creating electronic mailing campaigns. Her duties include updating pages pertaining to performances and education as well as banner logos.

Vienna residents Joseph R. Norman and David Y. Yi were named to the dean's list at Boston University for the spring semester.

Alison Nishiyama of Vienna, James Madison Class of 2006, will be attending Drexel University next fall. She is planning to major in business administration.

Ahmed Almutairi of Vienna, Islamic Saudi Academy Class of 2006, will be attending Drexel University next fall. He is planning to major in business administration.

Alison Rosner of Vienna has graduated summa cum laude from the College of William and Mary. Alison received a bachelor of arts degree in dual majors of religious studies and international relations. She was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. Rosner has received a scholarship to attend Emory University/Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Ga., to pursue a Master of Divinity degree.

Ashleigh L. Balsamo of Vienna earned a bachelor of science degree from Christopher Newport University in May. Balsamo is attending Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she is working on a masters in occupational therapy degree. She is a 2001 graduate of George C. Marshall High School.
