About the Almanac

The Potomac Almanac is a weekly newspaper dedicated to serving our readers with news, issues, events and dialogue. The Almanac, Potomac’s hometown newspaper, was established in 1957.

The Almanac won dozens of awards for excellence in news, sports, photography, graphics and community service in recent years, and was named Newspaper of the Year by the Maryland Delaware D.C. Press Association for 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2003. The last several years, The Almanac won multiple awards for public service, including “Best of Show” in 2001 and 2003, and two other “Best of Show” awards in 2003.

The Potomac Almanac features stories and items about and of interest to our readers, covering local politics, sports, community developments, leisure activities, business and real estate.

The Potomac Almanac is a Connection Newspaper and has 16 sister papers in Northern Virginia.

The paper is distributed free of charge by mail to the residents of Potomac, and free mailed subscriptions are available to Montgomery County residents by request at 703-917-6465.
