Police Seek Info on Churchill Vandalism

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Rockville Investigative Section are investigating a vandalism that occurred at Winston Churchill High School.

At 2:28 a.m. in Friday, June 2, police officers and Fire Rescue responded to Churchill for a report of a ladder up against the side of the school. While conducting a search of the school and the surrounding areas, police discovered graffiti painted on skylights and windows at the school.

Churchill Principal Joan Benz had no comment on the incident.

Cpl. Sonia Pruitt, spokesperson for Montgomery County police, said no arrests had been made in connection with the vandalism as of Monday, June 5.

Anyone who may have any information regarding the vandalism is asked to contact Rockville Investigative Section at 301-279-1602, or may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for all information provided to them that leads to the arrest and/or indictment of the suspect(s) responsible for the vandalism.

Wootton Students Present 'The Last Five Years'

"The Last Five Years," a contemporary musical by Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown ("Parade," "Songs for a New World"), will be presented in the Thomas Wootton High School auditorium on Friday and Saturday, June 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. The show, directed and produced by graduating senior Erica Simpson and starring Dana Harlan and Matt Mooney, chronicles the five-year life of a marriage. Act Two Performs ‘Cats’

Featuring many local elementary and middle-school performers, Act Two Performing Arts presents “Cats,” the hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical based on T.S. Run for Roses 5K

Female runners and walkers of all ages are invited to celebrate women’s running at the Run for Roses 5K, a Women’s Distance Festival race at Wheaton Regional Park on Saturday, June 17 at 8 a.m. The race course runs through the woods, around the lake, and around Brookside Gardens, which will be in full bloom. Each runner will be presented with a long-stem rose and a finisher certificate as she crosses the finish line.
