"The Nuts and Bolts of College Applications," a course for high school students and their parents, preparing to apply for college, will be held July 8 and 29 from noon-2:30 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St., S.E. Students will be guided in a step-by-step approach to complete high-quality college applications. The cost is $40 per family for town residents and $45 for out-of-town participants. Foster Family Training. Northern Virginia Family Service offers summertime training for prospective foster families. NVFS foster and respite families receive: intensive training, certification, continuing education, child/parent matching, ongoing assistance and 24-hour support from professional social workers, financial reimbursement, help locating support services for foster/respite children, foster/respite parent support groups, and family activities.
