Fair Oaks Shopping Center is welcoming two new restaurants which plan to open in November 2006 — The Cheesecake Factory and Texas de Brazil Churrascaria. This will be the fifth location for The Cheesecake Factory and the first location for Texas de Brazil in the Washington, D.C., market area.

Rob Craft and Tony Angleol, both with Davey Commercial Grounds Management of Chantilly, has joined the Professional Landcare Network. The association provides ongoing educational and safety programs and features a national certification program that ensures that PLANET members have the knowledge and technical expertise necessary to perform their jobs at the highest standards.

Leadership Fairfax Inc. held a joint commencement ceremony for the Leadership Fairfax Signature Program Class of 2006 and the Emerging Leaders Institute Class of 2006 on June 8 at Westfields Marriott in Chantilly. The ceremony featured civic change expert Dr. Suzanne Morse as the keynote speaker.

Leadership Fairfax’s Signature Program Class of 2006 is the 19th class to complete the leadership program. The Signature Program is a comprehensive 10-month program with a curriculum built around community issues and skill development. The Emerging Leaders Institute Class of 2006 is the fourth class to complete the program. ELI is a nine-month program built around four pillars: skill building, mentoring, community service projects and community board service.

Ama Arkorful, a student at Westfield High School in Chantilly, is a winner of a 2006 Award of Achievement for academic excellence in accounting studies presented by The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Each year, the VSCPA recognizes top graduating accounting seniors from Virginia high schools, community colleges and four-year universities statewide.

The students are selected by accounting faculty at their respective schools. Only one award is issued per school each year; thus making it a significant honor to be the one student selected by their faculty.

Successful Meetings Magazine has named the Hilton Washington Dulles Airport the winner of its Pinnacle Award for 2006. Meeting planners in the industry have recognized the hotel's outstanding ability to service meetings and conferences, rewarding it with the highest mark of excellence among meeting properties.

A new Rotary Club is forming in Centreville. The club meets on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. at the Border Cafe in Centreville. Rotary is a global network of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
