The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office will hold the 18th Annual McGruff Safety Camp, June 26-30; July 10-July 14 and July 17-21. All camps run Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m.-noon.

The camps, which will be held at Evergreen Mill Elementary in Leesburg, allow children who are entering kindergarten and first grade to learn various topics on safety including fire safety, bicycle safety and 911 emergencies. Throughout the week children in the camp will have an opportunity to meet law-enforcement officers, K-9 officers, plus a chance to see law enforcement and fire/rescue vehicles firsthand.

Registration forms are available at Evergreen Mill Elementary School, 491 Evergreen Mill Road, Leesburg, the Sheriff's Office Administration building at 39 Catoctin Circle in Leesburg and the Sheriff's Office Ashburn substation at 45299 Research Place, Suite 100.

There is no registration fee, but donations are accepted. The camps are for children entering kindergarten and first grade and children must be 5 years old by June 1.

Temple Hall Farm Regional Park will hold a four-day farming adventure, summer camp for children ages 10-14, July 10-14. Learn about and interact with farm animals, try some gardening. Draw, paint, sculpt and more this summer at the Loudoun Academy of the Arts in Leesburg. Summer art camp for children age 5-16 begins June 26 and runs through Aug. 18. Choose from a lineup of camps that includes imaginative painting projects, clay creations, cartooning, digital photography, batik, the art of magic, young designers club, mural painting and much, much more. The Loudoun Academy of the Arts, located at 222 South King St., Leesburg, is a 501c3 educational organization that offers fine art instruction to children and adults, gallery exhibition space for professional artists and studio art facilities.

Galilee United Methodist Church will be holding the Fiesta Vacation Bible School, July 10-14, Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-noon, for 3-year-olds (by Sept. 30, 2005) through fifth graders. The main Bible point is "Where Kids are Fired Up About Jesus." The location for the VBS will be at GUMC, 45425 Winding Road, Sterling. Cost is $35 per child. Galilee United Methodist Church will be holding the KidSpirit Triple Sports Day Camp for rising third-sixth graders, July 24-28, from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Directed by The Leavening Agency, a Christian organization specializing in creative children's programming in churches and schools. All campers will work on basic basketball, soccer and volleyball skills and each participant can choose one of these sports for more advanced instruction. There are no tryouts, every participant is encouraged to choose what he or she wants to do. Cost is $150 per child, early-bird special $135 before March 5. There are no auditions, every participant is encouraged to choose what he or she wants to do: music Ñ singing, hand chimes and rhythm instruments; performance skills Ñ drama and acting; choreography Ñ movement and sign language; stagecraft Ñ scenery painting.
