Westfield High Grad Courtney Reed to Appear in Michigan Summer Stock Company

Westfield High School graduate Courtney Reed, currently a junior at Wright State University majoring in musical theatre, has accepted a summer stock apprenticeship at the prestigious Barn Theatre in Augusta, Mich. She will serve as an Equity Member Candidate (EMC) during her apprenticeship, and will earn points towards her Actors’ Equity Association membership.

Since beginning her studies at Wright State University in 2003, Reed has performed in “Nine,” “Into the Woods,” “Ragtime,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” “As You Like It” and “Cabaret,” and in several student cabarets.

Reed, a Centreville resident, graduated from Westfield High School in 2003. She was active in both the choral and theatre departments as an actress, singer, and dancer, appearing in “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Hamlet,” “Godspell” and “Dancing at Lughnasa,” among other productions and concerts.

The Barn Theatre is Michigan’s oldest equity-resident theatre, now in its 61st year of operation. During the summer stock experience, apprentices act on stage and work behind the scenes in several areas including house management, set construction, and costume design during the three-month summer season. Graduates of the Barn Theatre apprentice program include Jennifer Garner, Lauren Graham, Jonathan Larson, Marin Mazzie and Tom Wopat.
