Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School Community Day Festival. Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School PTA will host a Community Day Festival from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Representatives from police and fire departments, libraries and health organizations will be present to provide information and brochures related to their services. There will also be a petting zoo, martial arts exhibitions, arts and crafts displays, an educational booth, soccer and basketball clinics, as well as a talent show and dance performance. No admission fee. The school is located at 4015 Fielding St.
Mystery Dance Theatre for Children. Studio Gold Dance will host “Mystery Dance Theatre” programs for children ages 4 and up at 11 a.m.-2 p.m., at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church. Under the Direction of Choreographer and Instructor Dawn Meadows, children will look for clues in dances, and the answers will tell them what their own dance games and movements will be. Proceeds will benefit Save the Children. Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door (reservations suggested). Additional donations will be use to give to low-income children and their families. The Fort Hunt Preschool’s Rummage Sale will include items such as kids toys, furniture, clothing, and maternity clothes. There will also be a bake sale. Free admission. 8 a.m.-noon at the carriage house of Mount Vernon Unitarian Church, 1909 Windmill Lane.

Travel back in time to Gadsby’s Tavern Museum and use detective skills to explore the life of an 18th century sailor in Alexandria. $5 per person ages 5 and up, reservations required. Teddy Bear Tea. The Black History Museum will host a Teddy Bear Tea for children from 5 to 10 years old. Special manners and etiquette program caters to the young.
