Mason Dixon Funding (MDF), one of the Washington area’s fastest growing mortgage lenders, has announced the promotion of three employees to the position of Branch Manager:

* Hal Johnson, a resident of Annandale, who joined MDF as a loan officer in 2004, has been promoted to branch manager of the company’s Fairfax office.

* Pat Samson of Vienna whose responsibilities include oversight of all of the on-site loan officers at the company’s Chantilly, Sterling and Fair Oaks Mall offices, was named branch manager of MDF-Chantilly.

The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the hiring of Vickie Walton as a permanent full-time staff member of the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce, bringing the staff roster to five full-timers and five part-time staff members.

Walton's primary role is to attract new members to the Chamber from Chantilly, Centreville, South Riding and surrounding territory. Bowman Consulting of Chantilly has been named to Engineering News-Record (ENR) Magazine’s list of the nation’s Top 500 Design Firms. This is the fifth-consecutive year that Bowman Consulting has received this honor. Companies were ranked according to their revenue for design services performed in 2005. This year Bowman Consulting ranked 290, moving up from 324 last year.

The Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Virginia Community Foundation (HCCSP/NVCF) are seeking applicants for the annual Business and Technology Scholarship. This scholarship was established to provide annual business and technology merit scholarships to strengthen our area's workforce readiness supply. Eligibility is limited to employees and dependents of Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce members pursuing a post-secondary degree or certificate in a business- or technology-related field. The awards will be made in early June.

A new Rotary Club is forming in Centreville. The club meets on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. at the Border Cafe in Centreville. Rotary is a global network of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in the world. Bowman Consulting of Chantilly announces the addition of the Fairfax County Park Authority Open-Term Contract to its portfolio of public works projects. Through this on-going contract, Bowman Consulting is providing planning, engineering and environmental consulting services to the development and/or redevelopment of numerous park facilities located throughout the County, including naturalized, athletic, active and/or passive recreational facilities. Specific tasks include the irrigation design of four area parks, entrance examination of the White Hall Horticultural Center and schematic design and construction drawings for Ossian Hall Park.

"Entrepreneurship 1-1: Starting a Business in Fairfax County" seminars will continue in 2006 with nine dates for the year. The Fairfax Economic Development Authority conducts the workshop for individuals interested in beginning a business in Fairfax County.

Held on the first Tuesday of each month at FCEDA headquarters, 8300 Boone Blvd., Suite 4550, Vienna. Sessions begin at 8 a.m. with refreshments and networking. Sessions are free but pre-registration is required. Interested participants can register on the FCEDA's Web site at www.FairfaxCountyEDA.org. The scheduled 2006 dates are: June 6, Sept. 12, Oct. 3 and Nov. 7.

The FCEDA promotes Fairfax County as a business and technology center. The FCEDA assists businesses by identifying possible sites and facilities, and is a source for up-to-date demographic and economic information.
