Historic Vienna is collecting clean used books for its annual sale June 10 and 11 at the Freeman House, 131 Church St., N.E. No magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks or condensed books. Receipts for tax purposes may be obtained at the Freeman House during business hours, Wednesday through Saturday from noon-4 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Books may be left on the porch any time up to May 30. The Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run has launched a history project initiative on virtual news site www.Backfence.com. The initiative documents the efforts of the museum's many volunteers, supporters and visitors. These volunteers, known as the Friends of the Farm, are celebrating 25 years of their efforts to sustain the Colonial Virginia museum's educational programs and activities. Backfence.com is showcasing on its site an article detailing the original vision and founding of the Friends of the Farm. Current and former Friends of the Farm are simultaneously posting their individual experiences and memories for view by readers.
