Cultured Celebration

American Indian Festival enlivens Waterfront Park.

Last Saturday Alexandria held its first cultural heritage festival of the season, in honor of the American Indian. The festival was held this year at Waterfront Park, on the river at the end of Prince Street.

Unfortunately, the festival in the past was at Market Square and many would-be attendees ended up in the wrong place. There were no signs at the square directing visitors down the street and over to the park at the new site.

Nonetheless, the Native Americans set up a dozen trading posts and offered numerous items for sale throughout the afternoon. Dancing took place within a large circle on the grass and grilled food and cold beverages were available.
