An Eagle Scout Court of Honor will be held for Eagle Scouts Matthew Henry, Samuel Cook, and Joshua Henry of Boy Scout Troop 13 on Sunday, June 11, 3:30 p.m., at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 2361 Hunter Mill Road, Vienna. All three scouts have been active in Troop 13 since the spring of 1999.
Karen Sheffield of Vienna, a senior interpreter at Riverbend Park, and Marty Smith, Riverbend Park manager, were honored for their excellence in interpretation with Stewardship Awards from the Fairfax County Park Authority. Working together, Sheffield and Smith developed and completed the Potomac River Gorge Interpretive Trail waysides, a series of exhibits along the Potomac River funded by the Chesapeake Bay Gateway network and developed in collaboration with Great Falls National Park. The seven waysides feature photos, paintings and text.
