Fire Damages Alexandria Home

A home at 1019 Woods Place in Alexandria sustained an estimated $500,000 damaged last Saturday morning when a fire erupted in the front bedroom, according to the Alexandria Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

First arriving units reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the single family, detached house. The fire quickly consumed the room and spread to the attic through the eaves, the department reported.

Following an investigation, it was determined the blaze was caused by a baseboard heater on the north wall of the bedroom.
