Rural Policy Area Hearing

<bt>The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on proposed amendments to the county's zoning and subdivision ordinances and zoning map related to the Rural Policy Area, beginning at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29. The board will take a break at 6 p.m. and resume the public hearing at 6:30 p.m. The hearing will be held in the Board Room of the Loudoun County Government Center, 1 Harrison St., S.E. in Leesburg.

On Sept. 6, the Board of Supervisors approved amendments to the rural policies of the county's Comprehensive Plan (CPAM).

<sh>AIDS Day Observance

<bt>The public is invited to participate in a World AIDS Day observance Friday, Dec. 1, at 7:30 p.m., at the Providence Baptist Church, 205 Church St., S.E., in Leesburg.

Since 1988, World AIDS Day has been commemorated internationally on Dec. 1 to raise awareness of the global AIDS epidemic.

This year the global theme of World AIDS Day is "Stop AIDS: Keep the Promise-Accountability." The guest speaker at the Loudoun observance will be Dr. William Silberman, former director of Laboratory Services at Loudoun Hospital Center. Other speakers will share their personal stories and experiences. There will be music provided throughout the evening by various soloists. As with every World Aids Day, the observance will close with a candlelight vigil, which provides those in attendance an opportunity to remember loved ones who have died of AIDS.

Refreshments will be provided following the program.

<sh>Citizens Survey Offered

<bt>The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has launched an online survey to determine the citizen's attitudes toward the overall agencies performance. Loudoun County residents are invited to participate in the Internet survey from Nov. 16 Dec. 1.

Participants will be asked a range of questions regarding attitudes and opinions of the overall agency performance, overall competency of agency employees, deputy attitudes and behavior toward citizens, safety and security concerns, and any recommendations and suggestions for improvements. The information gathered from the survey is for informational purposes only and will remain confidential.

Participation of the survey requires less than 10 minutes.

To participate in the survey go to www.loudoun.gov/sheriff and click on 2006 Citizen Survey.

For those who do not have access to the Internet, a printed version of the survey will be available at the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Administration building., 39 Catoctin Circle, Leesburg.
