Assault in Sterling

The Sheriff’s Office is investigating a malicious wounding that occurred outside of a Sterling restaurant early Thursday morning.

A 24-year-old man was assaulted by two men outside of Zazaa Restaurant in Regal Plaza. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kraig Troxell said the man was possibly hit a blunt object.

"I don’t know the extent of his injuries," Troxell said, "but it appears as though he was hit all over his body."

THE VICTIM and two suspects were asked to the restaurant after they got into an argument inside the bar area. The victim allegedly struck one of the two suspects in the parking lot, and then was assaulted with a tire iron, according to Troxell.

"He had lacerations on his face," Troxell said.

The suspects fled the scene in a possible older blue Dodge Neon. Witnesses say the vehicle may have struck the victim as it left the scene.

"We don’t know yet if he was hit," Troxell said, "but if he was it, it was not too extensively."

The victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and, as of Thursday, Oct. 12, he was in fair condition.

THE SUSPECTS are both described as Hispanic males. One of men is described as being 5 feet 5 inches, 150 pounds, with short hair and a goatee. The other man is described as having a light complexion, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 160 pounds, with a shaved head and a goatee.
