Panera Bread is donating a portion of the proceeds from each Pink Ribbon Bagel sold throughout October to a variety of breast cancer causes throughout the country.

Southwest Airline's celebrated its first flight departing from Dulles Thursday, Oct. 5, with a "LUV Party." The first flight took off at 6:25 a.m. Southwest will begin its Dulles service with 12 daily nonstop departures to the following cities: Chicago Midway, seven daily; Las Vegas, one daily; Orlando, two daily and Tampa Bay, two daily. The airline will offer direct or connecting service to 35 other destinations. Southwest will occupy two gates in the B Concourse and employ 40 local employees.

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce is holding an after-hours business mixer, Oct. 19, 5:30 p.m., at Great Country Farms, 18780 Foggy Bottom Road, Bluemont. The next Loudoun County Procurement's Buyer/Seller Information Exchange is Thursday, Oct. 19, 2 p.m., in the Lovettsville Room on the first floor of the County Government Center, 1 Harrison St., S.E., in Leesburg. The International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) awarded The Leesburg Flower & Garden Festival, produced by The Town of Leesburg, a bronze for best ad series for events with budgets under $250,000 during the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson Pinnacle Awards Ceremony.

The Northern Virginia Small Business Forum went live in early July and has already registered more than 120 local members. The free online community was started by David Stanley, a local small business owner, to provide an online venue for regional small businesses to network, share, learn, and grow. In addition to discussion about business topics such as finance and business operations, there are also categories to share candid stories and opportunities for businesses to take advantage of special offers, such as discounted business books, magazines, and business cards.
