The Montgomery County Board of Education met on Tuesday, Oct. 10 and, among other items, tentatively approved a revised policy on naming schools and reviewed an update on the Middle School Magnet Consortium. The Board approved the Comprehensive Master Plan, approved preliminary plans for two additions and a gymnasium, and rescinded two policies. The winner of the Mark Mann award was recognized. The Board approved the observance of American Indian Heritage Month and National Bus Safety Week. The Board also urged employees to participate in the 2006 Montgomery County Public Schools Charity Campaign.

Parents of prospective Washington Episcopal School students are invited to attend an open house at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. The school is located at 5600 Little Falls Parkway in Bethesda. The program begins with a panel presentation and question/answer period, followed by a tour of the school. Learn more about area preschools at the 9th annual Preschool Fair sponsored by the MOMS Club of Potomac on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Approximately 30 preschools from Potomac, Rockville, Bethesda, Chevy Chase and surrounding areas will be represented.
