Swarms of volunteers in bright blue T-shirts could be spotted all over Fairfax County last Saturday, which marked the 12th annual VolunteerFest, coordinated by Volunteer Fairfax in conjunction with national Make a Difference Day. Since its inception, the event has now facilitated the donation of more than $1 million in volunteer hours.
The Providence District was the site of more volunteer projects than any other district in the county, with teams gathered at 11 different sites. Park projects, though, had to be cancelled due to high winds. In total, 45 volunteer projects were carried out throughout the county Saturday by over 850 volunteers.
