Commemorating the 5th anniversary of 9/11, Interfaith Prayer Service for Peace is organizing a quiet worship service at Burke Presbyterian Church, 5690 Oak Leather Drive on Monday, Sept. 11. Marriage seminar starts Sept. 24 at Fairfax Church of Christ, 3901 Rugby Road, Fairfax. Designed to fine-tune good marriages, strengthen weak marriage and heal broken marriages, the seminar will last for eight weeks. It will be held each Sunday at 5 p.m. between Sept. 24 and Nov. 12. Temple B'nai Shalom offers an open house and Shabbat Service for new and prospective members Friday, Sept. 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Shabbat Services following from 8-9:30 p.m. The purpose of this evening is to give potential members and guests an opportunity to meet the Senior Rabbi and leadership and to tour Temple B'nai Shalom's facilities. Kirkwood Presbyterian Church, located at 8336 Carrleigh Parkway in Springfield, supports a Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) program on the first Wednesday of each month. Meetings are 9:30-11 a.m. at the church. All mothers and children are welcome. The program provides mothers an opportunity to get to know other mothers through discussions and craft activities.
