<sh>Bank Robbery

In Tysons Area

<bt>On Wednesday, Sept. 6 at about noon, a branch of Wachovia Bank was robbed. The suspect entered the bank, located at 8117 Leesburg Pike, approached an employee and brandished a handgun. The suspect demanded cash and was given an undisclosed amount of money. The man then fled the bank. No one had any apparent injuries.

The suspect was described as white, 30 to 35-years-old, approximately 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighed about 190 pounds. He had a goatee and was last seen wearing a light gray sweatshirt and an orange or yellow baseball cap.

<sh>Two Men

At Party

<bt>Two men were injured early Saturday morning, Sept. 9, while attending a party. Police were called around 1:10 a.m. on Sept. 9 for a group of people fighting in the street near Sideburn Road and New Guinea Road in the Burke area. Officers located two men who had been stabbed in the upper body. A 23-year-old Burke-area man and a 22-year-old Fairfax-area man were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where they were treated and released for their non life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses at the party assisted officers in locating the alleged attacker. Twenty-two-year-old Stanley A. Thomas of 706 Nutley St. in Vienna was arrested and charged with two counts of malicious wounding. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

<bt>Del. Steve Shannon (D-35) and his wife, Abby, extend their thanks to the community for their support after the death of Shannon's brother, Eamon. "My family is thankful for all the calls and letters of support from the community," Shannon said.

Eamon Shannon of Western Springs, Ill. died on Aug. 26 of complications related to Down Syndrome. He was 29.
