Vienna Area Girl Scouts will host a “Back-to-Scouts” Night Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Cunningham Park Elementary School, 1001 Park St. S.E., Vienna. Club Phoenix Teen Center. Vienna Community Center features a big screen TV, jukebox and CD player, Dreamcast, pool and ping pong tables and more for Vienna-area middle-school students. The free after-school program will begin again Sept. 5 and will operate weekdays from 2:30-6:30 p.m. Get help with homework or enjoy cooking classes, book clubs, and sports and fitness activities. Reserve a place in history at Cunningham Park Elementary. Buy an engraved brick that will be placed in the courtyard to raise funds to improve the school grounds. Obtain order forms at the school office, or contact Paula Williams at 703- 689-8928.

The Fairfax County Police Department, in the interest of promoting a safe school year, will launch its “Start of School” enforcement campaign. Additional officers will be used to enforce all traffic laws including speeding in school zones, passing stopped school buses and failing to yield to pedestrians. Officers may ride on school buses to identify and summons motorists who break the law. They will be driving both marked and unmarked police cruisers and alternative vehicles. All violators will be ticketed as police continue to promote the safety and welfare of both children and adults.

Wesley United Methodist Preschool, 711 Spring St., S.E., is accepting registrations for 2006-07. Children born before Oct. 1, 2002 are eligible to enroll in the afternoon program, which meets from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
