Obits: Wayne E. Tucker Dies

Wayne Edwin "Tuck" Tucker of Martinsburg, formerly of Mount Vernon, and Washington, D.C., passed away Tuesday, April 10, in the Virginia Medical Center.

Born Aug. 13, 1936, in Johnson City, Tenn., he was the son of the late Edwin D. and Verna B. Wiseman Tucker.

He spent his childhood on Luray Avenue, attended Mount Vernon High School, served in the U.S. Coast Guard, on the Penn Daw Volunteer Fire Department, owned businesses in Fairfax County, worked in Washington, D.C. convention exhibit services and owned flea markets in Jefferson County, W.Va.

He is survived by two daughters, Tracie West and husband, Dean of Harpers Ferry and Judi Burant and husband Jim of Perry, Fla.; one sister, Bobbie Jeverna Haynes of Fredericksburg, Va; nine grandchildren, Kristina Stallings, Dean West Jr., Kassandra Thompson, Shawn West, Stephanie, Autumn, Savannah, Heather and Carroll-Anne Burant; one great-grandchild, Karissa Stallings; three nieces, three nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Diane Tucker and daughter, Kimberly Dawn "Shorty" Tucker.

The family will participate in the combined memorial service on May 23, at 1 p.m. at the VA Chapel, Martinsburg, W.Va. He will be memorialized in Jonesborough, Tenn. at a later date.
