<sh>McLean Community Center Governing Board Meets April 25

<bt>The Governing Board of the McLean Community Center will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25. All Governing Board meetings are open to the public. The Center is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue. <sh>McLean Orchestra Spends the Night At the Movies

<bt>On Saturday, April 28, at 7 p.m. Bill Lauttamus presents “A Night at the Movies” at the Oakcrest School in McLean. The McLean Orchestra will step back into the seventies to perform music from films that appeared on the silver screen during the orchestra’s first season including “The Return of the Pink Panther,” “Cabaret,” “Fiddler On the Roof” and “The Poseidon Adventure.” Special guest artist Deloris King Williams will entertain audiences with her vocal renditions of movie favorites, and audience members will have the opportunity to vote online for their choice of movie to be screened by the Cinema Arts Theatre of Fairfax following the concert at Oakcrest. The Oakcrest School is located at 850 Balls Hill Road in McLean. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for youth age 18 and under, or students with ID. <sh>Annual Safe Community Coalition Meeting on May 3

<bt>The Safe Community Coalition (SCC) will hold its annual meeting and Board of Directors election on Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. in McLean. The Safe Community Coalition is a local, non-profit organization dedicated to making the local community a safe place for its youth. The all-volunteer organization serves the area defined by the Langley High School and McLean High School pyramids, and includes both public and private schools. <sh>Sport Parent Workshop at McLean High School

<bt>The Positive Coaching Alliance, in partnership with the Safe Community Coalition (SCC) and McLean Youth Athletics, will offer a “Sport Parent Workshop” on Tuesday, May 15, from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. in the McLean High School Lecture Hall, located at 1633 Davidson Road in McLean. In this workshop, parents will learn about the “Double Goal” coach model which focuses not just on winning, but on teaching children and youth life lessons through sports. This workshop will provide parents with the tools to help their children get the most out of the youth sports experience. <sh>Nominations Being Accepted for MCA Board of Directors

<bt>The McLean Citizens Association (MCA) is accepting applications for nomination to its Board of Directors for the year beginning June 1, 2007. There are 20 positions for neighborhood association representatives and 16 positions for at-large representatives. The application form is available in the February mailing to the MCA members and at the MCA website, www.mcleancitizens.org, or can be obtained by calling Tom Brock at 703-506-9376. <sh>Applications Being Accepted for Wheat’s Student Scholarship

<bt>The “Wheat’s 2007 Student Scholarship” scholarship, a $1,000 monetary reward, is being awarded by Wheat’s Landscape to a local high school senior with an outstanding record of community service. In an effort to promote youth volunteerism, Wheat’s Landscape is requesting parents, schools and friends to nominate students with a demonstrated record of volunteerism and encourage them to apply.
