"The Business of Family Child Care" seminar will be offered Wednesday, Aug. 1, at the Loudoun County Extension Office, from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The $10 registration fee covers the resource manual provided to participants. The Douglass Community Center, 407 E. Market St., is offering the cuddle bugs playgroup for parents and children ages 6-20 months. The playgroups take place on Fridays, 8:30-9:30 a.m. and cost $1. The Loudoun County Office of Virginia Cooperative Extension will offer a Virginia Gardener Shortcourse. The Shortcourse is a condensed version of the training that Trainees who are new members of the Master Gardener Volunteer program receive. The Shortcourse is held in the Loudoun Cooperative Extension conference room at 30-B Catoctin Circle, SE (Wachovia Bank Building), Leesburg. The sessions are from 6-8:30 p.m. and are spread throughout the year. Dates for this year are: Aug. 6, Oct. 25, and Nov. 8. Participants may sign up for individual sessions or for all eight. Kids Explore the World with Yoga, Monday, Aug. 6, 10:15 a.m., at Ashburn Library, 43316 Hay Road. For children ages 4-6. Children will learn basic yoga poses and songs that will enhance flexibility, balance, coordination, self-esteem and enlightenment to the world around them. A ServSafe Food Sanitation Course will be taught Tuesday, Aug. 14, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Loudoun Extension Office in Leesburg. This course was developed by The Education Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. After completion of the course, a one-hour certification exam is administered and certification is awarded by the National Restaurant Association to those passing the exam.
