A peer support group for survivors of clergy abuse and others affected by the abuse will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m in the downstairs meeting room of the Dolley Madison Library, 1244 Oak Ridge Road, McLean. This group is co-sponsored by Voice of the Faithful-Northern Virginia affiliate and meets the last Wednesday of every month. No registration required. Free Summer Wellness Fair at Lofty Salon and Wellness Center, 354 Maple Ave., W., will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31. The staff of stylists, aestheticians, and massage therapists will answer questions about your health and well-being. Refreshments will be served. On Monday, Sept. 10, 5-6 p.m., Lewinsville Adult Day Health Care, 1609 Great Falls St., McLean, will host Barbara DeAngelis of the Alzheimer’s Association who will facilitate a presentation for caregivers on “Dementia: Helpful Insights Into Behaviors and Communication.” To register call 703-734-1718, 7 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.

The Alzheimer’s Association sponsors a caregiver support group at The Sylvestery at Vinson Hall the second Monday of each month. The next meeting will be Monday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. Caregiver support groups can help family and friends share their experiences, learn caregiving tips, and know where to turn for help. Lifestyle Weight Management Center of Tysons Corner opened recently. The center, at 2235 Cedar Lane, Suite 302, Vienna, offers patients Dr. Sanford Siegal’s Cookie Diet hunger-controlling foods as a part of their new weight loss and management program. The 2007 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics will be held Sept. 15-27, marking its 25th anniversary. Participants must be 50 years of age as of Dec. 31, 2007 and reside in one of the sponsoring Northern Virginia jurisdictions. Registration forms are available at local senior centers, senior residences or by calling 703-228-3600, ext. 9996. They can also be downloaded at www.novaseniorolympics.com. The deadline for registration is Saturday, Sept. 1. Registration fee is $10, which includes one event; additional events are $1.
