Taste Canceled

Not enough vendors sign up.

The McLean Community Center recently announced that its 2007 "It's All About Food: A Taste of McLean" event had to be canceled due to a lack of vendors interested in participating in the event. The event, which is normally extremely popular with both residents and the local restaurant participants, had been scheduled to take place at the center on Saturday, March 3.

"We didn't have enough vendors sign up by the deadline that we had set," said Sabrina Anwah, public information officer for the McLean Community Center.

Anwah said that this year's deadlines were no different from those set in years' past, and she suspects that the lack of interest was probably the result of a combination of other factors.

"We've had a lot of bad weather, and I think there were a number of competing interests that weekend," she said. "It's a bummer — this is the ninth year that we've done the Taste of McLean, and the first time that we've had to cancel it."

Anwah said that at this time, the center has no plans to re-schedule the event.
