Obit: Mary Frances Reese Dies

Mary Frances Reese died at the age of 58 on July 11. Mary was a longtime resident of Alexandria before recently moving to Holmes Beach, Fla.

Mary served as the principal aide to Alexandria’s former mayor, Charles Beatley. During her tenure at city hall, Alexandria was recognized as a top All-American City. Mary was later awarded the key to the City of Alexandria in honor of her work. Mary was also the campaign manager to James Moran when he ran for city office before becoming a U.S. Congressman.

Mary was a graduate of Hammond High School and later President of the PTA in Alexandria.

Mary is survived by her mother, Jeanne Rozamus of Holmes Beach; sister and brother-in-law Kathleen and Bill Michaels of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister Cynthia Rozamus of Red Lodge, Montana; sons, Michael Reese of New York City and Taylor Reese of Richmond, Va.; daughters, Cynthia Cardone and Patricia Reese, both of Holmes Beach; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and devoted friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Friends of the Island Library, 5701 Marina Drive, Holmes Beach, FL 34217.

A memorial service will be held for Mary at 11 a.m. on Aug. 18 at Roser Chapel at 512 Pine Avenue in Holmes Beach, Fla.
