<bt>Two Loudoun residents pleaded guilty in federal court on charges of access device fraud and conspiracy.

Jacquelyn Mansha, 21, of Sterling, pleaded guilty last month to the charges after she was indicted in April by a federal grand jury. Also in April, Taimoor Aurakzai, 22, of Sterling, pleaded guilty as part of the conspiracy. Aurakzai faces a maximum of five years in prison for the charge when he is sentenced before United States District Judge T.S. Ellis III, June 15.

According to court documents, from July 2006-February 2007, in Loudoun County, Aurakzai and Mansha conspired with other to commit access-device fraud in violation of federal law. From July 2006-October 2006, Aurakzai worked as a server at the Clyde’s Restaurant in the Gallery Place area of Washington, D.C. While working as a server Aurakzai stole credit card numbers from at least 50 customers by swiping their cards through "skimmer," an electronic device that captures account information from the magnetic strip of a credit card. Aurakzai and his co-conspirators uploaded these credit card numbers into computers and memory stick devices and used software and hardware to re-encode credit cards and other card that had magnetic strips with the stolen credit card account numbers. Aurakzai produced these fraudulent access devices in his home. Aurakzai and his co-conspirators used the newly imprinted cards containing the stolen credit card information to make purchases of items at stores in the Northern Virginia area. Investigation into the scene is still ongoing; however, more than 78 credit cards have been identified as being used in this conspiracy to make fraudulent purchases without authorization resulting in a loss to the legitimate cardholder and their financial institutions of at least $74,000.
