The Youth Music Preservation and Promotion Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization based in Northern Virginia announces its plans to open a facility in Leesburg where it will run its music programs for underserved youth. The Virginia Conservatory of Music will also be home to Little Mozart Academy LLC; a music school which has been offering instruction to children, youth and adults in the area. The new facility will include an orchestra practice room, a homework and tutoring library, an early childhood music classes room, two practice rooms, and individual instruction classrooms. There will also be outdoor areas for concerts and recreational activities. VCM will launch an after-school program "Mozart Days," which will begin with the 2007-2008 academic year. The Society Youth Orchestra, a free program of music instruction through orchestra, will be held on a daily basis at the new facility. Putt for a purpose and help raise funds and awareness for MS at the MS Longest Day of Golf to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Get a foursome together and spend an entire weekday in July, August or September playing golf at an area club like participating sponsors Loudoun Golf and Country Club, Stoneleigh Golf Club and Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club. The golf clubs donate greens fees and all participants agree to meet a fund-raising minimum of $125 to help fight MS. MADD Loudoun announces the new MADD Loudoun Victim Support Groups for families/significant others who have been impacted by a drunk-driving crash. The group is for families, significant others who lost a loved one, for injured survivors and their families. The Loudoun Walking and Volkssport Club invites the public to check out its self-guided year-round walks. The club offers eight walks in the county that can be done any day at just about any time. The Senior Center at Cascades Marketplace, 21060 Whitfield Place, Sterling, has a walking club, which meets Thursday mornings, at 10:30 a.m. Walks take place outside, so wear loose comfortable clothing and sneakers. In case of inclement weather, walkers will be transported to the Dulles Town Center to walk around the "track."
