Simmons Runs in the 40th

Fairfax Station man seeks House of Districts seat.

Rex Simmons of Fairfax Station kicks off his campaign March 11 to become the delegate to the General Assembly from Virginia’s 40th District. Supporters will host a kick-off party at the home of Ron and Dana Cimino in the Virginia Run community of Centreville. Simmons is a long-time resident of Fairfax Station who has worked in federal civil service for 32 years.

The 40th District serves southwestern Fairfax County, including parts of Centreville, Fairfax, Fairfax Station and Clifton. Simmons is seeking the Democratic nomination in a June 12 open primary. All 140 seats in the Virginia General Assembly are up for election this year. In the primary election, Simmons faces software researcher Morris Meyer. The winner will challenge incumbent Del. Tim Hugo (R) in the general election on Nov. 6.
