<sh>Police Advise on Break-Ins

<bt>Over the last 12 months the McLean District and Fairfax County as a whole has experienced a number of auto break-ins. In some cases vehicles were left unlocked and in other cases the windows were broken out. The most common element was that whatever was stolen was in plain view; it could be seen from outside the vehicle. The following items are being stolen: money, cell phones, GPS units, satellite radio units, purses, briefcases and lap tops. Police advise, if residents must leave these items in the car, hide them or put them in the trunk, and never leave the garage door opener in the car when it is parked in the driveway, as it is just another key to the home. For more information, contact Master Police Officer (MPO) Thomas Black at tom.black@fairfaxcounty.gov, or at 703-556-7750.
