Oak Hill resident R. Payton Mahaffey is one of nine lawyers from McCandlish and Lillard recognized by Virginia Business magazine as being among Virginia’s “Legal Elite.”

Mahaffey, a principal and member of the Firm’s Executive Committee, has been named among the best in the category of Civil Litigation. He has been elected to the “Legal Elite” since its inception in 2000. In December 2004, Washingtonian Magazine named him to its list of “Top Attorneys” in the Washington Metropolitan Area.

McCandlish & Lillard, P.C. maintains offices in both Fairfax and Leesburg. Virginia Business determines the “Legal Elite” designation from a survey conducted with the Virginia Bar Association, which polls of Virginia lawyers to determine whom they consider the best in certain defined practice categories.
