Why are you interested in the theater?
To be perfectly honest, I’ve never been especially absorbed with theater. But music is my life. Where there’s a microphone and an opportunity to sing, I’m there.
What do you expect to do once you've graduated?
I’m hoping to attend New York University and study vocal music. However, I’m open to anything that may come my way.
What is your favorite movie?
“The Last of the Mohicans” because it has a fantastic original soundtrack, great scenery and first-rate acting. It really brought James Fennimore Cooper’s novel to life. And with a director like Michael Mann, it’s hard to go wrong.
What is the best book you read in the last year?
I’m reading “The Fountainhead” by Ayn Rand right now, and it’s fantastic. What I like the most about it is the character variety. Rand uses rapid dialogue in combination with detailed narration to bring each character and subsequently each objectivist ideal and counterpoint to life.
What are your achievements?
The achievements I’m most proud of have been the roles I’ve been awarded in this and last year’s musical. I’m not sure how often a student gets a lead as a sophomore and a junior, but I’m really thankful for the opportunities I’ve been handed.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love music and especially making it. I’m learning to play guitar and piano, and singing is my favorite thing to do. Also, I love playing football; I’ve played middle linebacker for T.C. for the last four years. Horseback riding is another huge hobby. I manage a barn over the summer and ride regularly.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Ramparts in the Fairlington shopping center. There’s no better place for a burger.
What is your favorite place in the community?
Chinquapin park during the summer, in the middle of the night. It's peaceful, but still alive.
What concerns do you have about the community?
I worry sometimes that the community is becoming disjointed. Neighborhoods don’t gather like I remember they used to, and people are keeping to themselves more.
What are the community's hidden treasures?
Well, most of them are probably still hidden from me. But to my knowledge, the most valuable thing this community has is the elderly population that has been around to watch Alexandria grow. To hear them tell stories is the closest thing we have to experiencing history firsthand. No textbook can offer that.
What are your personal goals?
At this point, I just want to hurry up and make it through high school and start doing my part in the world. I have a lot I want to get done in my lifetime, and I see no better time to start than now.
