South County Secondary School PTSA sponsors a Longaberger Basket Bingo Sunday, April 22 at 2 p.m. at the school, 8501 Silverbrook Road, Lorton. South County DECA seeks donations to compete at the DECA International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Orlando, Fla. April 28-May 2. On March 9-11, they participated in the DECA State Leadership Conference. Fourteen of the students were named First Place Winners or State Runners-Up in their competitive categories. Donations are tax deductible; upon receipt a donor will be provided documentation for tax purposes. Checks should be made out to SCSS DECA. H2 Newsmagazine, a publication of Hayfield Secondary School, won a High School Newspaper Gold Crown Award at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's annual Scholastic Convention in New York.

Sentry, the middle school yearbook of Robinson Secondary School, won a Middle School-Junior High Yearbook Gold Crown Award at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association's annual Scholastic Convention in New York.

Hayfield Elementary School has received a grant of more than $4,000 from the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) to establish a program on Italian culture. The program will be based on the life and works of Leonardo da Vinci.
