Crate and Barrel hosts an evening of shopping to benefit Life with Cancer, a program of Invoa Health System, 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Tysons Corner store, 1800 International Drive, McLean. A $25 advance donation, or $30 donation at the door, includes one door prize ticket, food and private shopping. Crate and Barrel will donate 10 percent of all purchases made during the evening to Life with Cancer. The store will also donate 10 percent of the online purchases made from Nov. 10 through Nov. 20 to the organization; to participate, visit

Join the members of the Great Falls Women's Club at Virginia Stained Glass, 5250 E. Port Royal Road in Springfield for a craft afternoon, Thursday, Nov. 15, 1-3 p.m. The club will meet at Virginia Stained Glass at 1 p.m., and attendees will make a fused glass bowl that can be decorated. The bowl will be professionally fired in a kiln, and projects will be ready in about a week. Snacks will be provided. Cost per person is $25. The McLean Farmers’ Market, located at Lewinsville Park on Chain Bridge Road, with the exception of McLean Day on May 18, will be open until Nov. 16. Market hours are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. each Friday. Come to the market for fresh produce, herbs and spices, breads (including Turkish pastries), meats, eggs, fruits, flowers (cut and potted), plants, jams and jellies, and more.

The McLean Community Center is now offering its patrons online registration for a variety of classes, activities and events through its Web site,

The Center has contracted with The Active Network Inc., based in San Diego, Calif. ActiveNnet, the company's hosted Web-based software program, provides users with excellent customer service and an easy-to-use interface. For enhanced security, all registration transactions will be processed on a Verisign secured site.
