The deadline for applications to join Extension Master Gardener volunteer training program is Nov. 26. The training program is offered through the Extension Office to train volunteers to assist the urban horticulturist in providing service and educational programs for Loudoun residents. Persons who are interested in becoming a Master Gardener volunteer do not have to be experienced gardeners. The training program in basic horticulture will begin Feb. 5.
Application packets are mailed to interested persons or an application form can be downloaded from the Loudoun County Master Gardener Web site at www.loudouncountymastergardeners.org. Applicants are asked to attend an orientation session/open house Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. and interviews will begin Nov. 27.

La Voz of Loudoun, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, received a $1,000 donation to support the English and Family Integration Program from Dominion Virginia Power. The program provides English language instruction, life skills instruction and information to the parents and family members of at-risk youth. The program helps to provide encouragement and support to recent immigrants as they integrate into the Loudoun Community and is the result of a collaboration between La Voz of Loudoun, the Loudoun Community Services Board (LCCSB) After School Program and the Fields of Leesburg Management Company.
