The Fairfax High School Band performs Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fairfax High School Auditorium, 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax. 703-219-2200.

Paul VI Catholic High School Band, Strings and Chorus perform a Christmas Concert Thursday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. at the school, 10675 Fairfax Blvd., Fairfax. 703-352-0925.

The Fairfax High School Music Department performs their annual Winter Concert Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium, 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax. 703-219-2200.

Gym for teens open Friday and Saturday from 7-10 p.m. In order to attend field trips, participants need to register and an emergency care card needs to be completed and on file. All trips depart from Green Acres, 4401 Sideburn Road. Fairfax. Visit www.fairfaxva.gov.

The Little Run Elementary Preschool Parent Group meets once a month to provide a supportive learning environment for families of preschoolers with special needs, community integration preschoolers, and preschool children participating in the Family and Early Childhood Education program (FECEP) and the Preschool Autism program (PAC). Each meeting focuses on a topic that families have indicated an interest in learning about, along with time to share and learn from each other.

Several local students and vocal musicians have been named to the Virginia Music Educators Association (VMEA) Honors Choir for 2007:

* Alternate, Hyejin Sul, Robinson Secondary School

* Cassy Byrne, Woodson High School

The Boyd School, an accredited Montessori Children’s house in Fairfax City, had its annual field trip to the Burke Pumpkin Patch on Friday, Oct. 12. Many parents volunteered their time to chaperone the students. Everyone enjoyed riding slides, digging for treasure in the giant sand mound and climbing aboard the giant tractor hayride. The Boyd School is located at 3909 Oak St., Fairfax.

The City of Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department offers new dance and nutrition courses designed to compliment studies for local pre-school, school or homeschool students. Classes include Dance and Tumbling for boys, Boys and Girls Dance Combo, Kiddie Combo, Teen Dance, Creative Dance, Nutritional Eating for Weight Loss and Healthy Habits and Survival Party Dance. The City of Fairfax Hot Spot teen center is 6:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights at 4401 Sideburn Road., Fairfax. Registration is free for all sixth through ninth graders. Advance payment of two weeks for all trips and activities. Call 703-591-3360.

The Boyd School, an accredited Montessori Children’s House in Fairfax, recently celebrated their annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 27. The children and their families participated in games and activities that celebrate safe Halloween practices and harvest fun. This year’s event was very successful.
